I’m an adult and a beginner to music. Where do I start?

  1. We cover a wide range of courses for adults who wish to get started on their musical journey.
  2. If you are looking to build a strong foundation in music, we suggest you check out our beginners courses in Indian classical music. You may choose between Hindustani Vocals 101 and Carnatic Vocals 101 to get started. These courses cover the basics of music - knowledge of swar (the building blocks of music), singing in taal (rhythm) and pitch (sur). These courses are strong in conceptual learning, so if you want to strengthen your singing skills, we suggest you explore these courses, even if you choose to pursue singing light music at a later stage.
  3. For movie song lovers we have a library of movie songs which can be learnt through self study or instructor led. You can showcase your learning to friends and families in special events and parties.
  4. Combine any 3 songs of your choice from our library of movie songs in our My Favorite Songs course. This course primarily focuses on the song and touches on the basics very briefly
  5. If you wish to learn just one song, you can enroll in a 4 week course
  6. If you wish to learn an instrument instead, we offer courses in Guitar, Piano and Keyboards. You can view the details here https://www.shankarmahadevanacademy.com/instruments/
  7. You may also choose from our Hindustani Vocals (ages 5+) or Carnatic Vocals (ages 5+) courses if you’d like them to get started with Indian classical music.
